Freire Institute

Freire Institute is a membership association, scholarly community and society of professional educators, dedicated to critical pedagogy, popular education, and transformative learning. The Institute develops tools and approaches grounded in the work of Brazilian educator Paulo Freire, whose work has inspired social movements and educational programmes globally. We believe that education is a powerful tool for individual and community empowerment and transformation. Our approach is participatory, challenging, and designed to draw upon the knowledge and life experiences of those participating in our programmes.
